The Edmonton Invaders are a Co-Ed hockey team was formed in the fall of 2007 by Steve Nichols. The team name and jersey is based off the popular 1980s video game Space Invaders. Steve wanted to put a "laid back" style team together that is based on having a good time with friends on ice.
The Invaders played their first season in Edmonton's Green Pepper Hockey League (GPHL). The first year had it's share of up's and down on and off the ice while the team was getting started. After the first season, the team decided to continue playing throughout the summer in the Edmonton Municipal Hockey League (EMHL). After the first summer season, the team realized the EMHL was a better fit and stayed in that league since.
